Chelmsford Liberal Democrats go into Thursday's elections buoyed up by the latest poll showing the Lib Dems up 3% (see below). That's now the fifth poll in a row which has shown the Liberal Democrat support to be up compared with the previous poll from the same company. Lib Dems look set to gain seats from both the Labour party and the Conservatives - in Chelmsford and around the country.

Poll details

The poll (in Sunday's Observer) showed Conservatives 38% (-3%); Labour 31% (-2%); Liberal Democrats 20% (+3%)

The average scores across the five (from Populus, Communicate Research, ICM*, YouGov and MORI) are Conservative 37.0%, Labour 29.8% and Lib Dem 20.2%.
